The Plainfield East Bengals entered the new year with an unblemished 11-0 record and sporting two holiday tournament championships in tow. Friday night all that was set aside as folly when the Bengals traveled to 3-12 Plainfield North in an annual rivalry match. the Tigers came out and stunned the Bengals with a 27-23 lead at half proving that records mean very little in the tough SPC but the Bengals would put it together in the second half. Led by Dee Brown's game high 25 points, East took the lead back midway through the third and never relinquished it. The Tigers fought valiantly getting a balanced offensive effort from Marcus Fair 13 points, Jeremy Burt 13 and Kendal Interial adding 12 but despite the solid performance East was simply best when it counted, especially on the glass where senior center Brian Bennett grabbed 8 boards and dropped 16 points two of which came in closing the door with a pair of free throws at games end for the 60-55 win and a 12-0 record.
